Does anybody know how to get started in a career in zooology or animal training? Also, what is the average salary for such careers. Do you have any suggestions for similar career fields? I have a huge passion for animals but not sure I want to go the Veterinarian route. Thanks in advance!

I am a certified animal massage therapist. I make $55-75 per session, depending on the type of animal. A session lasts 45 minutes to an hour, again depending on the type of animal. E-mail me through Yahoo!Answers if you would like info on an excellent school.

Best thing is to get some experience - contact some local groups in your area that work in the area you are most interested - spend some time with them - see what they do and how you like it - you can also then find out more about pay, training etc etc. This way you can get more of a feel for exactly what area you want to work in. Research, field work, zoo work - types of animals - wild and exotic, small animals, domestic animals and so on.

Intern or get a parttime job at the local zoo or aquarium. That will introduce you to many fields involving animals.
