I believe in small government, low spending, which means lower taxes for us. I believe you keep the government small, then you keep America free. I believe in the right to practice my Christian faith without having to enforce it on others. Atheists and gay people may do things that make me cringe, but it's not my right to tell them how to live. I believe if people in another state have an issue facing their state, it should be up to them to vote and see what the majority want and the Supreme court shouldn't be able to butt in.
And I remember a day when this used to be what the Republican party stood for...
Today, the Republican party is for big government. Low taxes, but HIGH spending. Spending has gone up 33% since Clinton left office.
Yet sadly, I have no idea where to turn to on election day. I go in the booth, see the D and the R, know the Democrats are nothing like me, so I vote for the R again. Just because there's no other alternative.
Anyone else in this same boat??

As much as I hate the idea of Democrats taking over Congress again, maybe it wouldn't be that bad of an idea. Just maybe, it'll be a wake up call for the Republican party to get back to their roots and represent the people they're supposed to be representing.

The reason why is to simply vote for the lesser of two evils. It shouldn't have to be that way. But we don't have to like it. That's just the reality of today. We have to decide which object to get shoved up our ***: the fork or the spoon. Both are going to hurt a whole lot, but the spoon would hurt less.

I would LOVE a third party take over. My choice would be for the Constitutionalist party when they pick up some more momentum.

I typically consider myself a liberal, but I also agree with your stances on small government, low spending, etc. I find it interesting that republicans today don't really follow these ideals. Actually, Clinton was more along your lines of thinking. He created a government surplus, and usually supported freedom on things like religion, sexual preference, etc. It seems like neither democrats or republicans are following their ideology. Maybe a third party it in order?

To comment about the "Losing maybe a wake up call" idea. I don't think that would be the best option, because rather than going back to there roots, they will believe they are not moderate enough and seek to go more left.
Anyways, I am pretty much in the same boat. The only way I see that Republicans can become more conservative is to take the primaries more seriously. I too, like the Constitution Party, but being its own party, only splits the conservative movement.
I believe that the candidates of the Constitution Party should run as Republicans, but keep hold of there Party's ideas. The Republican Party is very broad. It is the same party of Santorum and Specter. Therefore, I believe the only way for a positive change is for a movement to grow within a party not against it seperately.

I have been wondering if there were any real conservatives left, as the fruitcakes have taken over the republican party (I'm neither a republican nor a conservative myself -- I'm a subversive, pinko, commie rat -- but at least real conservatives have some integrity and aren't Taliban-like).
What you actually sound like is Libertarian. There's a website (unfortunately I don't have the URL) where you answer a bunch of questions and they tell you what party you really belong in.
Given how horrible today's Republicans are, and that Dubya must be stopped, for this election, you should vote Dem -- just to put some checks on the real dangers to this country.
But in the future you may want to switch to Libertarian so you can vote for your true views.

I'm a Dem but pretty much have the same thoughts you do. Problem is that both parties have sold us out to special interests and their own interests of getting re-elected.
The only thing I take issue with is the supreme court item-- if the feds or a state do something unconstitutional, they need to correct it. Thats the job of the courts.
Neither side provides much of a choice-- but like you said, vote for a change. Maybe doing a wholesale swap out of all incumbants may be a wake-up call to both parties. They need to get reminded that they work for us and they haven't been doing thier jobs.

you're stupid. You tend to think of with a closed techniques. Conservatives/Republicans attempt to maintain a as quickly as rich u . s . a . on your and their posterity as nicely as shield a non oppressive style of government. Charity is giving voluntarily, that is not regulated via any government. In as much as ye have achieved any of those for the least of those my brethren ye have achieved it additionally even unto me. that may not the government taxing us it rather is supply freely without tension or coercion. Charity is from the middle, not from the tax return. Christ additionally taught the myth of many skills. just about all people is supply some skills and that is going for use incredibly of based upon others to assist you. almost none of Jesus teachings have been political and all have been only to evangelise. while asked approximately his reign he suggested my kingdom isn't of this worldwide. Your remark is amazingly slanted to the portion of obscenity. further: In reviewing different solutions that's solid to work out people who supported the conservative section stood via the written notice (some may well be revealed in pink) whilst people who criticized did not gain this. they might't help their argument with the words Christ rather suggested and that's adequate suggested.

It is the year of the lesser of two evils. The Republicans have let me down on immigration and spending but the Dem's would let me down on all issues important to me and the #1 issue for me is a strong national defense, Republican are the winners hands down and I will not pull the D lever for that one reason.

I got a great job, I can pay my mortgage. I'm saving money for my kid's college. I feel safe in my little town in New Jersey, and I have no complaints about the Republicans, they had the wisdom to keep all the wars overseas, so I took advantage of the peace in the U.S. and got a PhD in a Science.
I GUESS THIS MAKES ME THE BIGGEST IDIOT IN AMERICA TODAY.

I'm a liberal and I know that the dems are in no way the best solution for the country - but the alternative is way worse. We have to stop the corruption and start to rebuild our reputation somehow. I don't trust the republicans to clean up what Bush has destroyed. They had their chance and they blew it.
