There are four cycles for microbes to reproduce and grow:

1) Penetration into host cell
2) Insert viral DNA / RNA
3) Assemble / Mature
4) Rupture the cell and release

Deamination destroys the microbes structure, therefore not allowing it to effectively accomplish these four tasks. In turn, this stops all reproduction of new microbes.
