I have an Italian Lemon Tree that I was prunning. It's an indoor tree. I am trying to figure out how to grow roots from one of the clippings. Thanks!

All that you have to do is put it in water for a while until it starts to grow roots. It may take a while so please don't get impatient. Eventually it will grow roots and you can then transplant it into a pot. Good Luck

Take a piece about 4-6 inches long. I know the lemon trees I've taken cuttings from (Lisbon and Improved Myer, not Italian) had hard stems. Using my clippers, I scraped the outside of the stems so that the white layer shows, about 1/2 inch up. Then dip in water then root tone and put in 3 gallon pot. Do several cuttings. I've found that sometimes the lemon cuttings do well but not always. And put the pot in morning sun, afternoon shade. Or, if you have a fluorescent light in your laundry room, put pot (w/ something to catch the water that drains from it when you water it underneath it) on top of your dryer. Sometimes it helps plants root faster. Be sure and keep the pot moist. And it takes months to root a lemon tree. When you have new growth, it should be rooted. Do not be pulling up the cuttings to check--they never do well if that is done! And have fun and don't give up if the 1st piece does not do well.
