Whenever someone made fun of my best friend, I confronted them. I let them know that being overweight is enough of a problem without people like them making it worse. Being overweight, I know what she was going through and what your friend is going through. I stopped people from messing with me a long time ago. I stood up for myself. Then I stood up for my friend. Her self esteem was so bad, she just took it. Making fun of overweight people won't make the problem go away. We can feel worse about ourselves, and that can make it even worse. Overweight people need support and caring. The people who make fun are immature and have problems they don't want people to know or whatever. It makes them feel better to point out problems in other people so no one focuses on their problem(s). One girl that made fun of me wound up being called a dyke the rest of school because she made fun of me and I "blurted" out the fact that she likes girls. Maybe you and/or your friend can find out what's wrong with whoever's picking on your friend and expose this popular possey for what she/he is. Good Luck and tell your friend no matter what he/she is still beautiful/handsome.

Stick up for your friend/ignore them. There are all sorts of ways to deal with this...this possey is immature and obviously need something to do with their lives. Once they grow up, they will probably be overweight themselves and balding, too. Just hang w/your friend.

As soon as I heard them badmouthing my overweight friend, I would go right up to that posse and tell them off. My best friend is my best friend and I wouldn't let a bunch of wackos otherwise tell me their garbage, even if it means risking my reputation with them. After all, a bird in the hand is better than a thousand in the bush.

Just wait 10 years, go to your class reunion, and you will see the "popular posse" has become overweighed, unhappy housewives who drink too much. Next time they tease her, tell her to say thank you and ignore them from that point on. It gets pretty boring when you can't get a reaction out of someone. People can always lose weight, but other people will always ugly on the inside.

hook your arm in hers, lift your head a little higher and dare to be smug that they are popular and yet so ignorant that they need to make fun of others to help them feel good about their own insecurities.
and give yourself a pat on the back, for realizing that beauty is only skin deep, and that true friendships mean way more than hanging with jerks to look cool!

I would stand up for my best Friend. Don't you think he/she would for you. Then I would stay away from people that are like that. Popular or not. If it makes them popular to put people down then Hell with popularity..
Be true...

Who cares what other people think of you or your friend. You're only here to impress yourself and if you've got a best friend to be there for you through anything than you must be doing something right.
