Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
In 1968 science fiction novelist Philip K. **** wrote Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? It tells of the moral crisis of Rick Deckard, a bounty hunter who stalks almost-human androids in a fallout-clouded, partially deserted future San Francisco.
It was made into one of the best Science Fiction movies of ALL TIME!!!!! - Blade Runner.

I loved The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allen Poe. I originally read it simply because it is referenced in Phantom of the Opera, but I really liked it. It is told wonderfully, and it is pretty creepy.
" And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the night. And one by one dropped the revellers in the blood-bedewed halls of their revel, and died each in the despairing posture of his fall. And the life of the ebony clock went out with that of the last of the gay. And the flames of the tripods expired. And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all."
That part is really freaky, and yet strangely beautiful. I nearly jumped out of my skin the next time the clock chimed.

I love Roman Fever by Edith Wharton. I'd have to say that is my all-time favorite. But I enjoy many others including those by Dorothy Parker, Kate Chopin, Zora Neale Hurston, Mark Twain, etc.

The Penal Colony by Kafka
because it conveyed so much to me about obsession and emotion. you see the story through each individual's eyes but you also regard them all as a whole. it's very disturbing and captivating at the same time.

The Lottery by Shirley Jackson because it was not what you'd expect. It's about a town that does a lottery every year.
