Because there will be a big void in your life when you do finally let go. But you cannot hold onto anyone forever, and sometimes the best way of saying "I love you" is to let go.

I always try to remember this " Do not cry bcos its over, smile bcos it happened". Makes me feel better. People come into our lives for a reason.Some leave at the end of a season. Think about this: " One always has to know when a stage comes to an end.If we insist on staying longer than the necessary time,we lose the happiness and the meaning of the other stages we have to go through" by Paolo Coelho. It hurts because they have in a way become a part of you and apart of your life so when you don't see them any more and it creates a feeling of loss and pain.

henceforth you care about that person and they are no longer in your life. It hurts to not have them around to share things with you care and that's why it hurts.

you get used to them in your life, then when they are gone you feel this sense of lost, & it will hurt, especially when you are close to that person or you like that person a lot. it may feel like its the end of the world... and you feel alone, angry & terrible.... you cry... have a good cry....

because you love them and they arent there, you miss them and there is an empty space where they are supposed to be and they arent there to take up the slack.
