I used to think a lot of old entertainers were funny that I don't anymore. But I'm looking at DVDs of their old material, and much of what makes comedy funny is its timeliness. I still love Robin Williams, by the way, but more for acting than comedy per se.

The only one I have really rejected as not funny is Lenny Bruce. Somehow jokes by heroin addicts don't amuse me anymore.

I used to think Dennis Leary was funny until I discovered Bill Hicks and realised that he had completely stole his act.

I used to think Steve Martin was funny, and Eddie Murphy, but I don't now. But that's different than Leary, the problem is, those two genuinely DID used to be funny but aren't any more.

I used to think Rodney Dangerfield was funny, but I haven't heard him say one funny thing in over 2 years now, like around October 4, 2004 to be exact.

Roseanne Barr and Adam Sandler. The first time I saw both, I thought they were funny. Since then, they come off as plumb stupid.

I agree, Eddie Murphy. we've all been asserting he needs to do arise back and get removed from the "family contributors video clips". Bowfinger became tremendously humorous. Now he's doing "dramatic" roles...Dreamgirls!
