Great question dude! You also nailed the fact that Italians are more closely related to the darker races than the nordic/ Germanic races. Strange too that Italians like many Mediteranian peoples and Africans are genetically predisposed to Sickle Cell Anemia. A trait developed in those people who needed protection from Malaria in hot climates. True whites(Aryans) don't have that nor do Asians.

No you are not white. Whites considers you to be olive tone but they do accept you as white. Think of it like this, you are definately not Nordic or Germanic or true Aryan. You are closer to Semetic, North African(Moors), Eastern Indian strains of people.

There really is just one race. The human race. The whole world has been a melting pot for thousands of years so nobody is pure anything. And remember......all humans started in Africa. And according to the World Atlas, Italians are cataloged as white stock. For your information many of the Swedes & other Nordic's are mixed with Asian. Be proud of being Italian. The Roman Empire was one of the greatest empires the world ever had. Meanwhile the lighter whites were living in mud huts. Our ancestors influenced the whole world including our present. Make time to study the Italian & Roman contributions to the world. When I visited Italy I saw a lot of blonds and redheads even in Sicily. I had blond hair as a child...big deal, now my hair is dark and straight. I am a proud Italian American!!!!!! To GreenGras...yo mama would have nappy hair if she didn't use a relaxer on it, you dumb b***h! You are misinformed about Australian Aborigines being considered white. Their ancestors migrated from Southeast Asia. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Get on your broom & fly away, it's Halloween today.

Yes, Italians are whites. Italians are European and therefore by definition white. But I've heard that in the earlier part of the 20th Century this was in dispute. Of course, many black people don't considere Italians white, I don't know if it's because of the stereotype or what? Based on that, Italians are the coolest white folks around. Most beautiful too, IMHO.

my best friend's grandfather is from lucca, and that guy is as white as a cotton ball, but I know what you mean. I don't think i've seen a tribe with more broader physical appearances than Italians except for maybe the peoples of Russia and India. If you look at Arturo Gatti the boxer, that guy looks like he part Chinese.

I think Italians like the all races in the world are a mixture of various elements; its the Italian culture that makes you an Italian. Check out the history that you posted in your question. Embrace them all; and celebrate culture and heritage at the same time.

i think there are 4 kinds of ppl in this world.

One is white caucasians which are from Europe. so everyone from Europe is White.

The Africans, everyone in Africa are Black.

The Asians, Chinese, Viets, Koreans, Japs ect are Asians Pacific ppl. Asia.

The Hispanic, which are the Spanish. from Spain to Mexico, and the South Americas. these are the Spanish ppl.

so if u r from the continents of that, then u will be called either those. White, Black, Asian, Hispanic.

The Native Americans which are the Indians as Columbus called them we are not sure. I think that they should be in the 4 also. so there is 5 kinds of ppl.

but who cares. we are all human beings.

Italians are classed as Caucasians. Like many other people in Europe (and America) they are a mixed bag. Be proud of your heritage.

Italians are considered Caucasians. While your skin color may be darker than that of northern Italians, you're still considered white. Ethnic classifications are based on genetic heritage, not actual skin color.

This is a perfect example of why we need to stop classifying people according to race and saying if your skin is white you are white, however, if your skin is brown or has some color, where do we put you? Hello, we are all of the human race. God bless
