It is illegal... but so many people download anime because buying anime is too expensive
There's something good if you're downloading anime online... the translation is much better! (Only if it's subbed)

Unfortunately, yes. While the anime is unlicensed it is possible to inccur criminal charges for illiegal downloading if you are obtaining the items through a third party which does not charge you for an item that normally costs something.

its not illegal to download it. Its illegal to let people download it off you. So you were legal whoever you got it from is doing the illegal action.

from what i heard it is not illegal if you are in a country that the anime currently is not licensed.
once it is, then it's illegal :D
