So I'm trying to decide where to Study abroad: UK or Australia (mayube South africa?). I'd liek to know the "gay scene" in these prospective countries though in terms of club admissions, how open you can be, and how many gay people there are. Any ideas/suggestions?

Most major cities in the UK are relatively gay friendly and have thriving gay scenes in central locations catering for all tastes. Smaller towns are much more problematic with hardly any significant gay life. The age of consent in the UK for men and women is 16 and gay people have almost the same rights in law as anyone else. Generally, the UK is very tolerant towards gay people and it is unlikely that if you choose to study here, you will experience any prejudice due to your sexuality.
