I've seen this at the book store, but is this only the known superheros? Or all the superheros, even those which did not last long?

I would have to know more. Is it just covering Marvel or DC? or does it have more range than that. To cover all superheroes in all genres and all companies it would have to be massive. If the book is on the shelf to look through, see if there is a character call Noxy or Noxie. If she is in there, the encyclopedia is probably pretty complete to date. Otherwise it probably just has some limited listing

It says "the best of"... So it can't be all superheros but I'm sure it included even the less know ones. It is a book spanning 70 years so it must include heroes which may not have lasted long but was the inspiration for others down the road.

That's just what I figure based of the description of the book... I've never read it myself.

Depends on if it covers the Golden Age, Silver Age, or both.
If the book covers both ages then there's going to be ALOT of heroes in it with brief(very brief) bios.

Ron Goulart is a very good writer and certainly knows his stuff when it comes to comics.
