In truth there is next to no evidence and for all we know they may have been advanced computer-literate socieites trading abundantly with each other and ruled by wise women guided by their perfect intuition. All we have to go on is the scattered finds of stone tools and bones that tell of humans living side-by-side with animals in caves like Wookey Hole (Somerset, England) and a thin handful of cave paintings of animals which we don't really know who in their societies painted or why.
