Unless you have one reserved.. I don't see you getting one .
Sony just announced lower shipment numbers for Japan and I'm sure it's going to be the same way in the U.S.
And honestly I'd wait anyway and let the early adopters be the beta testers.
So that by the time they are readily available, all the bugs should be worked out.

Try and reserve one through Best Buy, Circuit City, Amazon.com, etc. I was on Amazon.com and you could have them email you when the PS3 is ready to be reserved. I would personally wait for the hype of buying a PS3 to go down since it would be alot easier to buy. Also if you wait for awhile, the price would go down.
