England have them but the Ashes are played this year in Australia and England are the holders at the mo. The ashes go to Aus with England but if Aus win they get to keep them.

I think before giving the answer to your question, I must give brief description about Ashes Series.
The Ashes is a Test cricket contest played between England and Australia - it is one of cricket's fiercest and most celebrated rivalries and the oldest in international cricket dating back to 1882. It is currently played at approximately two yearly intervals, alternately in England and Australia. The Ashes are "held" by the country which last won a series and to "regain" them the other country must win more Test matches in a series than the country that "holds" them. If a series is "drawn" then the country holding the Ashes retains them. The last Ashes series was played in England in 2005 when England regained The Ashes after a gap of 16 years by winning the series 2-1.
The next Ashes series will be in Australia in 2006-07 and the next series in England will be in 2009.
Presently the ashes are with England and to regain or take back from England, Australia will have to win the series against England.

Technically England will always hold the Ashes. The little urn lives in the museum at the MCC (although it is currently doing a tour of Australia).

australia will win the ashes but will never have the physical ashes trophy. they will win because they have a far superior team. although england will be the best touring team since the west indies of 92-93.

Australia will win the ashes without a doubt. Every reasonable circket fan knows this. They outclass every other team in the world, and will be playing to diminish every hope England has of regaining it this year.

Why Australia learn English???
They have the Real Ashes on loan for an exhibition but will return them to the MCC very shortly.

They are only here for display and will return to England later. Australia should easily win this series the way the pommies are going. England needs a miracle for the to win this time, e.g. glen mcgrath to get injured again.
