"the glory and strength of Socialism"

Don't you mean LOWER the USA to the ineffective worthlessness of Socialism?

The quickest way is to take another big hit of that opium you love so dearly, and fall asleep thinking about it. Then it will happen by tonight, in your dreams.

I have no idea, but I have the feeling that letting the Chinese finance your ballooning trade deficit while the Dollar depreciates, letting factories close and become slowly replaced with third world sweatshops, letting unemployment and social inequality grow, giving exhorbitant tax cuts to the rich, letting the Bin Laden family get out of the US in a private plane after 9/11 when nobody else was allowed to leave the country, and letting world civil liberties be violated in the name of security; In other words, Bush's policies, are not the way to achieve "glory" or "strenght" either.

Quit your sarcasm. You look like an immature retard.

PS: Cuba has the lowest child mortality rate in the Americas (lower than the US), the highest education achievement levels in the entire Latin America and ranks third for Latin America in the United Nations Human Development Index.
Ranks even higher than a lot of countries with huge territories, many resources, and with economies that are not experiencing any type of blockades. (Mexico, Peru, Colombia, etc.)
You can even compare that with the depressing stats of similar countries such as Haiti, Honduras or Dominican Repulic. So much for socialism not working.

You are a republican pretending to be a socialist. You are not funny but maybe you think so.

Socialism is like salt, add a little, and you can make a difference (progressive taxation, social security, free healthcare) add too much and you end up collapsing your economy because economic pressures will build up and you will get lots of shortages and surpluses and other damage to the market.

First, let us dispell the idea that Socialism is the same as Communism.

3 : a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

Main Entry: com·mu·nism
Pronunciation: 'käm-y&-"ni-z&m, -yü-
Function: noun
Etymology: French communisme, from commun common
1 a : a theory advocating elimination of private property b : a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed
2 capitalized a : a doctrine based on revolutionary Marxian socialism and Marxism-Leninism that was the official ideology of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics b : a totalitarian system of government in which a single authoritarian party controls state-owned means of production c : a final stage of society in Marxist theory in which the state has withered away and economic goods are distributed equitably d : communist systems collectively

Socialism is, as Mirriam-Webster shows you: "a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done". You see the word TRANSITIONAL correct? OK now her is the scary part that you should look at. UNEQUAL DISTRIBUTION OF GOODS AND PAY ACCORDING TO WORK DONE! DUH..is this not how America runs? You are paid according to the societal norms of your job. If you are a doctor you are paid a lot. If you work at McDonalds you are not paid well. Therefore, you have unequal distribution of pay according to work done (notice, the definition by Marx has nothing to do with the job you hold but the amount of work done). You could also easily argue that, because the lower, working class is paid so little compared to the ruling class (corporate fat cows) there is also an unequal distribution of goods. Further, socialism states that there is a collective or governmental ownership of goods. Have any of you realized that, if the government wants your house and land, they have the LEGAL right to just take it? In reality you do not own your home and property, the big businesses with the loans own them and the government can take them for pennies on the dollar if it so wishes or needs or desires.

Freedom in America is not real it is pretend. We live in a society that is called a capitalism but, if you examine the definitions closely we are very much closer to be a Socialist government than a capitalist Government. Tax cuts to the rich and wealthy is something a socialist would do.
Communism removes all ability for the individual to own goods. Instead everything is, in theory, owned by everyone.

i don't have time to go into it all with everyone because those of little minds and blind faith in their government will never see the faults of the current policies in America. You who believe we are a capitalist economy and that even the poorest of poor can become the richest of Americans need to step back and look at the state of our country and the direction we are headed. The jobs that paid well and provided a living to hard working families are being replaced with service industry jobs that do not pay a fraction of what the manufacturing jobs did. Business, because they are not making billions of dollars a year, turn to the government for handouts and tax breaks to break even then lay off employees and shut down jobs to get ahead (even though they already ARE ahead!). The little people do not make near what these corporate monopolists make (BTW A monopoly, which is a product of Capitalism, fits VERY VERY well into the definition of a socialist economic factor). It is sad that so many Americans are blind to the path of our own government and the regulations put in place.

Read your definitions and educate yourselves instead of passing judgement on a person for their personal beliefs. I do not agree that Socialism is great and powerful but, I think if you review the nations current path, we are creeping closer and closer to a socialist government (one of control by the rich and the government where the working class and middle class do not matter).

Further, if you ever get smart and read Marx and Engells seminal work on communism and then read some of their later works too, you would see that what they advocated for IS NOT what the USSR and other nations have (actually China is getting closer each year).

Ack.....what do I know... I am simply a graduate student in education doing research on functionalism, conflict theory, and interpretivism as it realates to the education system in our nation (which by the way is far worse than most educaton systems in Soviet Russia were ....albeit, they did have a different idea of what education was supposed to do. Funny that we are pushing our education system to mirror that of europe (many socialist styled nations) and asia (communism's touch is still there).

Socialism will always fail. An incentiveless system is one bound for failure.

Oh naive one, you must be quite young and might even be attending one of our hallowed institutions of higher learning (is that what academia likes to call them?). You need to educate yourself before you start making such silly little utterances.

Wisdom will come in time. Be patient and pay attention.

Lets see, there is Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. There is welfare. There is student aid. There are incentives, food stamps, and politicians.
What type of government were you asking about?

Good Luck
