DST is most commonly used in temperate regions, due to the considerable variation in the amount of daylight versus darkness across the seasons in those regions.
Governments often tout it as an energy conservation measure, on the grounds that it allows more effective use of natural sunlight resource in summer time. Since there is less darkness in the "waking day", there is less use of electric lights. Some opponents reject this argument.
In fact, farmers generally oppose daylight saving time. In Indiana, where part of the state observes DST and part does not, farmers have opposed a move to DST.
Some people believe that if we have more daylight at the end of the day, we will have fewer accidents.
In fact, this "benefit" comes only at the cost of less daylight in the morning. When year-round daylight time was tried in 1973, one reason it was repealed was because of an increased number of school bus accidents in the morning.

Daylight savinsgs time was begun in an effort to save energy with longer hours of natural light (longer light in summer evenings, lighter mornings in winter). The current daylight savings time begins in April and ends the last Sunday of October and has been this way since 1966. Next year, however, DST will begin in March and end in November.

the idea is to save capacity, by technique of providing sunlight hours contained in the evening even as everyone is more effective in all chance to be lively than early contained in the morning. The lengthening is through a regulation that Congress surpassed in 2005.
