to piggyback off of what clewis said,
I am an Air Force weather forecaster who has to use the NHC all the time...they are the ultimate authority on hurricane tracks and forecasts. Even if we think they are WAY off track, the official forecast belongs to them no matter where they are. That's why cnn.com, weather.com, etc all have the same track forecasted...it is all from the NHC. The forecaster who is reading yoru evening news can say their expert opinion...but no one can deviate from what they say. (For the Pacific ocean is the Typhoon center in HI who runs the show)...
