Why don't the politicians like "Two Jags" Prescott and Blair and his cronies stop driving around in flashy cars and living in huge houses that cost £100,000s to heat and jetting off around the world in their private jets? Why are they doing this while trying to make poor old Mr Jones feel guilty for using his car once in a while or leaving a light on for security when he goes out?

Why do they allow the public transport system to be so nasty, dirty, inadqeuate and unreliable?

Why do they support big business, car manfuactureres etc who promote and cause global warming and then not take the responsibility themselves?

Because they are hypocrites.

How often do you think you are likely to see Prescott and Blair standing at a bus stop at 7am on a freezing rainy January morning waiting for the bus to work (which turns up late), and having to sit next to the smelly drunk because there are no seats left? Or standing in the pissing rain waiting for a delayed train??? Not very. Yet they want the rest of us to use public transport. Yeah right.

Who says globle warming is real? The earth temperature has always changed, for example, look at the weather during the dark ages... It was lots colder then, it has been documented with painting and tapestries (?) Even the 19th century was colder then now,so is it becuse of just the big bad U.S or is it becuse of all the industries over the course of time, including the ones of past centuries ... If globle warming is somthing even worth worrying about. And how far do you want the goverment delving into our private lives? Telling us what and what we can't do... I mean, what are we willing to give up in order for the world to have " cleaner" air? The air now is cleaner then it was during the 40 years ago, not that we should stop cleaning it up, it still could be better, but it's not somthing to worry about as much as say... World hunger, or stopping genocide (?) Both the left and the right, are responsible, and neither have prioritized these issues (?) And don't you mean " why is the goverment so stupid?"

There are many reasons for not doing this. The first one is the cost - who actually wants to pay for the technology. Heck, the government don't even want to invest in cleaner technology, like th Toyota Prius' Hybrid Engine - making it all the more expensive to be environmentally friendly. Plus the governments of this world are far more concerned about their media appearance rather than getting the job done. As a Geography and Politics student I see the same issue from two different sides. Another reason the government don't install wind turbines, solar panels, etc. is because they don't want to lose votes by imposing their will on people, and also because it would probably mean a tax hike that few would actually enjoy. Hope that helps, dude.

It is because the government would never take any action that would destabilise the housing market. By making environmental criteria key to new housing, that would reduce the value of non-green homes, many of which MPs own and are right now cashing in on by selling them (Tess Jowell, the PM, George Galloway etc.). So, they will never take such a measure because it would hurt their pocket book. If the planet incinerates, that's okay as long the housing market goes up by 10 per cent this year-on-year.

This would involve vote loosing measures which would see them in trouble in the next election. It would appear that the retention of power is far more important than actually doing something to the good unless it in itself meets with popular support. Chelsea tractors being an example, most don't own one so lets tax the
blo-dy things of the road.

Because there is an abetement cost associated with the eradication of Greenhouse gases. The cost cannot exceed the benefit..and so often the benefit is not achieved as no one wants to be the first to move in the direction of abatement.

The impact on production of goods would be negative at first, making products more expensive...whilst keeping salary levels the same, true GHG eradication could spin the world economy into a worldwide recession and depression....

The long run effect is wanted, but the short term effects are not.

For the people by the people. The government is only as smart as the people who make it up. Do you want others to mandate what you do in your home and force you to pay the bill? Think of the existing laws and conditions you disagree with paid for by your tax dollars. Best to make these changes in your own home and encourage others with the funds to do the same rather than mandating it for everyone.

It's a pre-requisite when standing for Parliament.

Actually they think WE are stupid. The UK is responsible for around 3% of the worlds emissions so taxing people with four by fours is just another way of scamming the people.

They will be taxing nookie next!

Because no-one in the government has a brother-in-law who fits solar power panels.

They are not that stupid are they. Where else could they get paid hundreds of thousands of pounds a year for flying round the world free, getting top class meals free, getting all of the perks the ordinary tax payer has to declare. Really, who is the stupid ones? Us or them?/
