Plants are at the bottom of the food chain. They use sunlight to perform photosynthesis which is how they create glucose (their food source.)

Sunlight is the energy that drives photosynthesis.
Through photosynthesis it is possible for plants to take CO2 from the air (why it is good to have plants around) and water to create sugar. The bulk of a plant is made up of the sugars that was created from photosynthesis. When we eat plants we are digesting and utilizing for our own benefit the sugars that were created by those plants using photosynthesis. Basically, consumers of plants and other primary producers do the reverse of photosynthesis (cellular respiration) which gives us energy (ATP) and water with the byproduct being CO2.

All, but if you want nitty gritty details, I would say that some animals live off of volcanic vents. Also, matter is a form of energy, so the earth itself is energetic. It's metal core produces electromagnetic shields that protect us from rays from the sun. Also, the energy used to move tides comes from the moon.

The other two examples use plants, but I consider this very peculiar. If we suddenly lost the sun, we would freeze to death so quickly we would not have a chance to starve.
The answer, then, is that the electromagnetic waves radiated by the sun provide an abundance of thermal energy to our planet, enabling us to survive without freezing. In other words, the light from the sun heats up the planet, and without that heat, no living thing on Earth would be able to survive.

For example photosynthesis...where plants use sunlight to grow, solar panels can generate heat and electricity to cook food, and if we had no sunlight, we would not be here. Th light and heat from the sun causes plants to grow...we eat many varieties of plants.

First, please change "many" to "all". Everything we eat is plant life - or from an animal which ate plants... or ate an animal which ate plants, etc.... The plants use (capture) the energy of the sun, use it to make sugar. Being a little casual here: The sun's energy is incorporated into the plant and whatever or whomever eats the plant gets the energy.

A whale, eats crill, which eats zooplankton which gets it's glucose from photosynthesis that is powered by the sun.
