Halloween is a celebration that has to do with the harvest.Country people have always celebrated and because there are so many city folk who laugh and jeer at them and call them country bumpkins somehow the name got misspelled in some long forgotten past and now we have the country pumpkins who celebrate .

It's not celebrated BY pumpkins...but I can tell you why pumpkins are used when celebrating Halloween. Halloween is a high and holy day in the Satanic religion. If you had a carved/lighted pumpkin or skull outside of your home, it meant that you were showing sympathy for Satan and that he would show you mercy on Halloween night. <--- I am NOT Satanic, I just watched a Christian video about the origin of Halloween.

Pumpkins are in season at this time of year, and when i went over to belgium they were everywhere on the streets as decorations (must be some kind of festival..??). I'm guessing that over time as halloween was celebrated at the same time of year as pumpkins were around, the two just crossed over.

pure guess though!

According to an old legend, a man named Stingy Jack asked to drink with the devil but didn't want to pay. He convinced satan to turn into a coin to to pay for the drinks but he kept the coin and put a cross next to it so the devil couldn't escape. Later, he let the devil go free if he promised to leave Jack alone for one year and not steal his soul, should he die
. When the year expired, he tricked the devil into getting some fruit in a tree. While the devil was in the tree, Jack carved a cross in the tree and forced the devil to promise not to bother him for 10 years and not to steal his soul.

Later, Jack died and God refused to accept Jack into heaven for being wicked. The Devil was angry at Jack for being tricked. He denyed Jack entry to Hell and kept the promise not to claim his soul. The Devil sent Jack away at night and provided him only some hot coals to guide him. Jack put the coals in a turnip and has wandered the earth ever since.

Turnips are still used for Halloween in the UK but Pumpkins grow better in the USA so the imigrants adopted pumpkins.

In scotland we used to use turnips to make "tumshie lanterns" because you couldnt get pumpkins. I see the shops are full of them nowadays.
Just shows that kids are getting lazier.
Try hollowing out a turnip compared to a pumpkin and you will see what I mean!

Its not pumpkins, its the carvings of the pumpkins which are called jack-o-lanterns. These represent the spookiness of Halloween.

My pumpkins said they don't want to celebrate Halloween and that they find it barbaric to engrave their kin with designs.

Ask your mother.
I think she may have been fertilized by a pumpkin seed instead of a haploid.
