Not really -- humans are just one form of mathematical DNA which will eventually disappear.
What will be, will be -- in the end, we're all dead.
Just pass the time pleasantly -- and this includes being kind to others: this gives a pleasant life for all of us.

YES! i do feel a little sad when i think about that area of humanity, as progress & destruction are one of the same thing;
Every action has consequences, be it positive or & negative; It's ashame that in this day & age, either way, fear is at the heart of it all, regardless of those reactions taken out of love or anger. I also feel that good education all round about consequence / Karma ect, is where the solution lies, as we are creatures of habit, & it's the motives behind our actions that create the consequences.
Also I believe that we have almost come full circle, & There is something powerfull that needs to give. Perhaps the human ego could do with a rest, as I believe it's the basic human needs that have been exploited by our fathers, & our fathers fathers over the centuries to create this vicious tax paying society that we are hypnotised to & are living in; Thus creating this cycle of self made problems. It's that old saying "Check yourself before you wreck yourself"! Also any natural so called disasters are obviously going to happen regardless.

No, not at all.
with progress comes detriment. And anyone who thinks humans are destroying the planet really has a problem with technological advancement, not the human race. Humans were on the planet for thousands of years before there was a problem with the ecosystem.
yes, the planet is worse off now than it was a long time ago. But we, humans, are a lot better off now than we were then. Think about it.
1. we can now travel around the entire globe in less than a day.
2. we have vaccines to cure some horific diseases.
3. if we want food, we go to the market, not to the fields.
1. Traveling burns fuel, which is bad for the environment, but good for humans to get where they need to go.
2. The research that leads to vaccines is not always so pretty, (toxic waste, etc...), but having the vaccine is incredibly important
3. Food travels around the globe to make it to your supermarket. Without this, you would only be able to eat what was grown, or available, very close to you.
So, if it came down to dying of Polio, or living on a planet with a hole in the ozone layer. I'll take the ozone hole any day.

the planet will be OK as it has always been the problem with pollution is that WE wont be able to live on it if we continue the way we are, the planet has suffered far worse than what we could possibly do to it but WE cannot survive what were doing to it
if the global temperature raises by a mere 10 degrees or the oceans rise by 10 metres we all die horribly. need to do something right know or find another planet where we can start again

It does sicken me and its very sad. And we continue to do this. But instead of being angry, do your part! If you are talking pollution are you taking things into your hands? If you drive do you use a hybrid car instead of a huge SUV? At home do you save electricity when you can and do you recycle? Going back to driving, do you car pool when you can? Ask yourself all these questions? Things like do I through litter on the ground because I was to lazy to carry it to a garbage can? Do you donate to causes or volunteer for these causes? I did for two years when I had better finances.

150 years ago, people didn't know about global warming, and the effects the machinery of the industrial age would have on climate,
What makes me sad is that now we do know, and yet are doing very little about it. How many people can honestly say they don't leave a light on, or don't leave their TV on standby etc?
It angers me that America refuses to reduce carbon emissions, and now China is reverting to coal!
When I watch the beautiful nature programmes such as David Attenburgh's, it breaks my heart that we have become such an arrogant and selfish animal, and continue to rape the planet of resources and wildlife.
We are a disgrace to ourselves as a species. Not every individual, obviously, but as a species.

I don't care, I'm living in the now. The past the future doesn't matter in any way whatsoever. I am enjoying myself simply in the act of being. lol. Why was your Eckhart tolle question removed?

And I believe it's going to get worse, the worlds population is increasing daily, any effort to correct the problem will have little or no effect, as the populations of the world increase, and the demand for more power for industry, and private use etc increases; Unless someone out there has some very constructive answers!?

Yes indeed. It makes me even sadder when I try to get people to call the Ministry of Environment and complain about the factory(s) down the street pumping styrene (carcinogenics) into our breathing air and they just shrug. I complained for 3 years and they never did a damn thing about it. So people have no one but themselves to blame for being complacent. There is power in numbers, but people don't care enough. They say they do, but they don't, or they would be on the horn every day complaining to someone in government to do something.

If everyone stopped being so obsessed with sex we wouldn't have half the problems we do today! Adolescents are rebelling against their parents, bowing to peer pressure from friends and the media, and getting pregnant at younger and younger ages because they and are so stupid and naive. Seriously we need to tackle this because the world only has a finite number of resources and its incredibly selfish to think we all have a right to reproduce. I will never have kids, because I don't want them.
