Often gifted children might have a harder time "fitting in". There might not be anything wrong; but I would go to her guidance counselor at school and just tell them about your concern. She might have a psychological issue with people. Possibly a trust issue. I know that I have problems trusting people because I can tell often when people are lieing to me. It is a gift. The half picture might portray her intelligence level on half truths that people tell.

For my thesis paper when finishing my Master's, I studied patterns of notorious serial killers such as Dahmer, Gaines, Ramirez etc... Your question triggered a memory of a snip of information regarding Dahmer's early childhood. During creative free time in elementary school, he would draw incomplete pictures of people such as you described. I find it quite alarming your gifted Daughter share's characteristics of one of the worst serial killer's ever known in the United States, or even the World for that matter. I do not think a Psych evaluation would be out of hand in this case. I hope the best for you with your Daughter, Good Luck

Can she draw a whole person freely or is the half-person just a preference? I would be concerned if she could not draw a whole person freely and would consult a psychologist/neuropsychologist/or neurologist. Otherwise, ask her about what's going on in her head or further questions about the drawings.

I would defiantly encourage and praise hr on her drawings but you can ask her why "it looks better?" She may tell you that way you can see more or hell she may be on to something and blow your mind with her explanation!
The Mona Lisa is actually half man and half women and is skewed to look like the picture on one side has been lifted.
so she will be fine... be patient and have fun!

I would suggest that you have a creative child on your hands why not try to inspire her with a showing of her work.
Send invitations out to local businesses that display pictures and art and have them in your backyard for a showing of her work or ever rent out a local community center
She sounds like she has talent and could go far inspire her and show her that you like her work and take it seriously
Good Luck

Maybe she thinks people with one eye is interestind or she sees Dali and other artists and is trying to mimic there creativity. She might be having thoughts in her head (an unlikely possibility but could happen) talk to her about it

Sounds like she is just being creative. I wouldn't worry about it as long as they aren't violent drawings or anything.

She is obviously a genius and thinks out side the box....don't try to take away her creativity by "fixing" her.
