Double click the yellow shield - and there should be a 'more' button. I definitely wouldn't interrupt the process but it should tell you a little information. The other thing is that I have my updates set so it just "notifies" me. The yellow shield is there but I have to click on it for it to update. Many times I go to windows update and pretend I'm going to do it manually because it will tell you what the update is....I always like to see what the updates are for.

It's good to do a 'custom' windows update at the windows update site because sometimes there's hardware updates for you that don't appear in the automatic updates.

When they are ready to install you can see what it will install. The files are KB numbers so the best way to tell what is going on is to check the MS Security update site.
