What about the gutter helmet thing? Anybody got some experience on that???

Absolutely! the needles, twigs and pine cones roll right off the roof and the guards keep rodents out too!

yes they do if the gutter guards or small enough screen....where the needles can not fall thru it...If you live in the north, again watch out for ice build up ...

Yep.
Put cheap shields on years ago
Some needled do get in & had to be hosed out (once in over 5 years).
Not bad.

They are great, but don't buy the ones with holes in them but the solid ones, you can buy them at Lowes . We really love ours, as we have tons of oak trees in our yard and seems it takes all winter and part of early spring for them to shed all of the leaves.
