First of all, I'm a girl who is a freshman in high school.
My best friend just got asked out by the hottest guy in school, and I know I should be happy for her (like all the screaming girls surrounding her locker were) but I can't help but feel a pang of jealousy. I don't want the guy (I mean, sure he's hot but he's dumb as hell). I'm getting scared that I'm going to lose her to "the more popular" crowd. Also, I have never had a boyfriend, and neither had she until the guy asked her out. I'm so fricking jealous but ashamed of myself at the same time.
Please help me!

You're jealous because she has gained entree into the "in" crowd and you're left out in the cold without a boyfriend. So you're actually jealous or envious, of your friend. I understand this, I had the same issue when I was a teen. I had a really outgoing and popular friend and I was shy and nerdy. I envied her. When we envy what we should do is find away to get what that person has. Get out there and join something. Do what you enjoy. This will get your mind off your friend, make you happier, and in turn you will attract a guy and maybe even have a boyfriend. It's a time to concentrate on you and your gifts and be grateful for what you have. Good luck, little sister.

You answered your own question. You are jealous because you are afraid of losing your friend to the popular crowd, and she was asked out by a boy before you. It's perfectly human to feel jealous in a situation like that. But just don't take it out on your friend. It'll be your turn too one of these days.

Well, you answer your own question. You are afraid you'll lose your friend out to the more "popular crowd" You are prolly more jealous of that, than that she gets to go out with this guy.
Chill it. Envy is a normal feeling. Don't deny it.
Just take care you don't mess out and play the "bad girl" coz of the envy you feel.

I think you are intimidaded by the other crowd,more than you are of this guy... maybe inside you you do wish it was you and not your friend that is somehow normal.. but you should get over it and be happy for your friend,cause you are her friend and you owe her at least that.. so get over your self and go join the screaming group at the lockers even if it kills you.. SHE WOULD DO IT FOR YOU...BE A FRIEND.... and think about your fellings last.good luck.

Your feeling that way because you guys used to be the same.Neither of you have had a b.f. be4.So know that she does,you feel that u 2 are on a diff. level.To stop feeling this way,tell her how u feel.Then put yourself out there.You can't live your life being jelous over other people.

She is your friend at a new and potentially life changing stage for you. At least you can recognise your feelings so don't worry be happy for both your self and her.
