I have a "mello yello" can that one of my students made with silver wire and green and yellow tissue paper. She knew I loved to drink the stuff and always had a can on my desk. She said that this way even if I ran out, I'd still have a can on my desk. I love it!

So what's the groovy cool item you have on your desk?

Well there's some pretty groovy cool stuff on people's desks already, but I'll still throw my two cents in.

What I can see above the insane clutter of my desk includes three pretty cool things.

Firstly, a truly mind-boggling photocube - someething about the way it's put together means that whichever face you look at, you only see one picture, and it's a set distance away, even though that would be physically impossible. Hence the mind-boggle. It's also full of pictures from my first trip to California - to see the girl who's now my wife, and her best friend in the world. There's one of me and my girl dressed up to the nines for dinner onboard the Queen Mary, one of her sliding through a submarine hatch, and one of her sitting in a sunshade by the pool looking blissfully happy. As the friend, and our reason for taking the California trip, is no longer with us, it's not only a mind-bogglingly cool contraption, but a reminder of great times and even greater people.

Secondly, there's a pencil sharpener in the shape of a ship's wheel (which of course, actually turns).
This is my step-dad's attempt at humour, referring to my job at the Royal Institute of Navigation. He knows I have trouble telling left from right, let alone port from starboard, but still, he thought he'd chip in. This is special simply because it's so unlike him. Normally, he gives money. But when I got the job, my folks came up to London for a weekend, and he picked this up for me. Think he was proud...which is a bit of a rarity. Also...what can I say? When a man descended from Sir Francis Drake gives you a ship's wheel...it's kinda cool, y'know?

Finally, and just for mischief, I have a talking mug on my desk. A "Cyberman" talking mug. For the uninitiated, a Cyberman is a monster on Dr Who - essentially think Borg but give them a mechanical grating voice. This thing delivers charming little phrases like "Resistance is Futile" and "You Must Be Upgraded"...which is useful during tough days when I want to scare the bejeesus out of my co-workers and boss...

Hmm...think today is a Cyberman day...

Last week on our way to hunting camp we were in a bit of an accident. A truck in the oncoming lane hit a deer and threw it into our lane. It got trapped under our van and we went in a ditch ( everyone was fine and the van suffered no damage)...but an antler broke off of the big buck and my hubby took it as a bit of a souvenir.....and it has found a home on my desk.

Also on my desk it my kittens' cat food bowl. We have to keep it up here because if we put it on the floor the dogs will eat it up.

Well those are mine...not too weird, but they are there

Groovy cool? Thats the greatest honestly.
Now that that is out I don't have any cool objects on my desk but in my desk I have, a cd/dvd opener. It's sort of like a letter opener but not really.

A goofy looking "Zeus the Moose" thing. It's sitting there near the monitor now, looking at me. It's some kind of a beanie baby type stuffed toy.

And yes, I realise that this admission may damage my macho image, such as it may be.

It's just a long-standing joke that the complete bimbo who is my mate has with me :oP

I suppose the strangest thing on my desk is a couple of Kazoos, they're great stress relievers.

I have an old tin [presumably from Italy, I think]. It contains my grandfather's stamp collection. During WWII, he was in Europe, and got stamps from various countries over there. They're not in good shape, but it's still an interesting keepsake. The tin depicts an Asian couple dressed in medieval-looking clothing.

I've got a couple stress balls. One is in the shape of a star, another your standard balloon kind, and then another in the shape of an aspirin. Also got a little stuffed horse on top of my computer, and a Harley Davidson perpetual calendar.

OK, so I just got this desk Friday. I don't even have a computer on it yet. It's my new home away from home. Only 3.5 hours away from my NEW home.
Stupid job.....

Does an old, stinky, coming apart at the seams mouse pad count?

I have a life-size plastic replica of a flintlock pistol that my father and I put together over 30 odd years ago. Not really all that unique I'm sure, but it's special...and the fact that I play with it almost everyday (specifically when I'm the phone with clients) says something about me...not sure what, but it says something. :-)

A friend went to Ireland and brought me back a sticker in Irish, that means "kiss my a**". I also have some Happy Bunny lip gloss, it says " 1.apply lip balm 2.kiss my butt 3.repeat" I love it.
