328/2 = 164
164/2 = 82
82/2 = 41
Therefore, 328 = 2^3 * 41 or 4*82
The square root of 328 = sqrt(328) = sqrt(4*82) = 2sqrt(82)
which is approximately 18.11

The desired answer depends on why the question was asked. Guy M got it right - it is 2sqrt(82) Any evaluation of a surd given in decimal form is not as good unless you want to use it to get an approximate answer to a specific question. In this case you have to determine the level of accuracy you want - how many decimal places. Could be anything from 18.1 or 18.11078 plus a few more besides.
It would have been good to know why you had asked the question.

328 =4*82 sqrt4=2
try the iteration to find sqrt 82,guess 9
x1=9,x(n+1)=(1/2)(xn+82/xn)
x2=(1/2)(9+82/9)=9.055
x3=(1/2)(9.055+82/9.055)
=9.055385146
therefore,sqrt 328 =sqrt4*sqrt82
= 2*9.055385146
=18.11077029
i hope that this helps

take your calcolator, type in 328, hit the square root key.
but the hard way, 18x18=324, so you know it's over 18 & less than 19...
