The Trio that you are talking about could be, The Pointer Sisters.
They had a number 11 hit single in 1984 with I'm So Excited, which was used a few years later in the crunchy chocolate advert.

I think it might be Jump for your love by the Pointer sisters from 1984. My sister says the short-haired one always sang in the middle and shout is definetly in the lyrics. Hope it helps!
