I have always thought its funny when you watch cops or something and they arrest someone and then you see like some fat trashy lady come out of nowhere and start yelling "I know the law! You can't do that!" like she picked up a Harvard education while working the Mcdonald's drive thru. Also everyone knows one person like this...that person that threatens to sue for everything because they think their rights are being violated.

A lot more people do know the law now days. However, you are right that many people probably pick up their legal knowledge from unreliable sources. I think the big problem is all those ambulance chasers out there that instill in people they need to sue at every opportunity or they're not getting what's coming to them. If people would take a deep breath and try to work out their differences amicably the world would be a much better place. I think the real lawyers will be fine with a few less clients.
