In the movie American Werewolf in London how did they make the howl? I know it was a mix of sounds.?

i might be nerdy.. but i think i remeber watching a documentary on the making of that show.. and they used some unusual animals sounds..set at different speeds... like wolves, of course.. but then i think they used whale calls.. and even geese.. at slower speeds.and even some cows mooing .. put them together and its..... very creepy...
