I have about 75 guppies. And the female guppies get about 4 centimeters long, and the males only get 2½–3 centimeters long. So if they are almost that size you can put them back in. But you don't have to take the babies out. The adults don't mess with the babies as bad as everyone says. The adults go after the babies when they are first born, because of the birthing smell that is on them and the babies will hide in trees and other things that you have in the tank so that the adults can not get them and after a little while the water in the tank washes the smell away and then they leave the babies alone. I never use a birthing tank or take the babies out, because the female guppy has anywhere between 15 or more babies.

When the female guppy becomes fertilized, a dark area near the anus, known as the gravid spot, will enlarge and darken. The gestation period of a guppy is 22-26 days. Then you should see some babies. Here is a web site that I use maybe it can help you. Good Luck

Well, it took about two months or so for my guppies to reach full size, but I'm not exactly sure. As far as the babbies go, I (yes I feel guilty) did not remove all the "batches" of babbies from the adult tank, and the adults left them alone for the most part after the first day. If the babbies are too large for them to swallow, then it is probably alright to put them in. Not sure about the pregnancy thing...

after about a month the fry will be large enough to hang out with the adults safely. be sure to provide hiding places like silk plants for the babies just in case. also, be sure the filter isnt sucking up the babies

no, the belly is the best way. female guppies store sperm. so they can impregnate themselves several times after the removal of all the males. fyi
