It IS human nature to fear what we don't see, what we don't understand, what we cannot control, or what we anticipate may hurt us eventually.
Looking at what you don't see from a different perspective may change, reverse, or alleviate the fear altogether. Take for instance- the dark. When it's dark, you can't see anything. So you don't really know what's there. Or not there. Or hiding under the bed or in the closet with holding God only knows what or how big its teeth are. But the light was just on a minute ago and everything was fine not to mention that whatever it is that could be there is much more afraid of you and so many other things. And if you were to take a deep breath, relax yourself, and enjoy the piece and serenity of just you and your thoughts and picture the angels taking post above you as you encapsulate yourself with all that isn't there anymore that once was throughout the previous hours of the day, that fear begins to dissipate. Statistics and algorithms indicate that you are most likely to die from something you see coming way in advance.... Or... heights. People who are afraid of heights typically only anticipate falling- or the abrupt halt at the end of it. But if you were to take a look at what's there while you're up there, and just soak up what you would never be able to see down there, you might see that suddenly your fear may be cloaked with the beauty that surrounds you. Statistics and algorithms have shown that you are 3 times more likely to die from a fall on the ground, then up in the air.... Or the future. Or risks, or outcomes or relationships... all of these things we haven't much ability to perceive or see, or we only see how we have failed, or what has failed us, so we naturally fear them. Naturally. But with proper planning, communication, and our ability to understand our mistakes in the past, we can gain the upper hand, perceive each new venture as such, and move forward armed with strength, wisdom, and the courage to make our dreams realities.

no, I am not afraid of what I cannot see, only of what it is threatening.
I can't see the smell of flowers but I am not afraid of it, I can't see beyond the next curve in a winding road but I am not afraid to follow the road, I can't see the thoughts of the people around me but I am not afraid to be with them ... but I can see coldness in some eyes and I am afraid, I can see thorns in bushes and I keep away, I can see shadows in the darkness and I am scared sometimes.

I am afraid of what I can see in the mirror every morning. Not a pretty picture. Now that is scary. My Brad Pitt cosmetic surgery wasn't as successful as I had hoped.

Sometimes. I cannot see Hepatitus nor AIDS viruses, yet they scare the hell out of me. If I was walking through the deep woods on a dark, moonless night and something eke'd at me, no worries. Downtown L.A, on the other hand...
