I despise racism, but it seems to be rife.
Whilst the racist "enjoy" many slang derogatory terms for the groups they discriminate against, there seem few alternatives for the word "racist" itself.
Famously the Inuit language has many words for snow because its important to them. Similarly I believe racism seems increasing prevalent so we need more terms to describe them.
So lets redress the balance somewhat.
Do you know any non-obscene words or phrases for a racist bigot? If not, why not suggest a new word....it might just catch on.

I'd suggest knuckle dragging, mouth breathing Neaderthal, but that would only insult Neaderthals.
Here's what Roget says:
Roget's New Millennium™ Thesaurus

Synonyms: bug, crank, diehard, doctrinaire, dogmatist, enthusiast, extremist, fanatic, fideist, fiend, flag-waver, freak, jingoist, maniac, monomaniac, mule, no-neck, nut, opinionated person, partisan, persecutor, pig, puritan, racist, red-neck, relisher, sectarian, segregationist, sexist person, stickler, superpatriot, zealot

What about a word to describe someone that positively or negatively wants to enforce THEIR opinions on others?
Are you anti-racist or just against anyone having a different opinion from you? You maybe right about the lack of words for 'racist', but are you not just being racist yourself (against the racists).
Understanding of each other is all that is important, and we won't get that by making up new derogatory words for this weeks hate target: the racists. Don't they have enough hate of their own, rather than alienating them, should we not be re-educating them?

Don't brand me a racist just because I am a white male! BUT...
In today's "Political Correctness Gone Mad" world "racism" has taken on a whole new meaning. According to various laws we are expected to have our sense of colour drained from us, seeing people as people and completely ignoring their heritage. The very mention of someones skin colour is deemed racist!
This is very disappointing for me, an Englishman, as my country probably has the richest history of them all when it comes to racial diversity. Celts, Angles, Saxons, Vikings, Normans etc etc....
In my opinion, to mark someone out for their colour is a bit basic, but is also a recognition of their ancestry! We are not allowed to use all the "old" worlds for other races anymore, but white people will always be "Whitey"! As though we have no history of our own!
I've gone WAY off track! What was the question again?!

The common words to describe them are "bigot" and "xenophobe". Adjectives such as "right wing" have also been used, reflecting their typically hardline political leanings.
Sadly, there are many examples of bigotry and xenophobia in our world today.

Careful here, there is a distinct difference between a racist and a bigot. Additionally, where you live that you believe that racism is "increasingly prevalent?" Typical idiot spouting off at the mouth.

there is different levels to racism.
some people prefer there own race and others can be violent to other races.
In this world there used to be freedom of speech for you to hate the racist is that not also classed as a bigot.

There are Racists in every colour and creed. Xenophobe seems to be one word people are missing.
(p.s. sueywuey, did you really mean to put the words in that order?)
