only if you can convince the olympic committee to reinstate it for the 2016 games (i hope in Chicago)..i guess the only reason they did that was because of not enough competive teams for softabll which is to bad

sadly, yes it is the last appearance. There's many petitions being signed and what not, but I'm not sure if the petitions are really going to help or not. I don't know what could help, but I don't expect to see them in the 2012 Olympics. I really hope to see both baseball and softball, or maybe just softball back into the Olympics in 2016. But my only idea is to sign as many petitions as possible, write a very buisness like letter (not email) to the Olympic Society saying how golf is definitly not a sport and what not. Just remember if you do write the letter, start positive in the middle add the criticsm and the suggestions then at the end write something positive again. Get as many people to write a letter and send them all in. That's all I can tell you. It's not one person that will make a difference though, it's a whole bunch of countires that will make the difference sadly.

So it appears. I wonder how much of this is anti American bias. Baseball is also getting the chop. I really enjoy both sports - but I would hate to see them pull pros out to play. It changed the whole face of basketball in the Olympics and not for the good, I fear, when the NBA joined in.
But softball! What is it, 40 feet between the pitching rubber and home? And that ball is really traveling. A fun game to watch with the short base paths.
I guess the only way both (or either) of these sports can be included would be to get more play world wide. Perhaps putting them in again as exhibition sports would be a start.

Unfortunately, softball is usually considered the female equivalent of baseball, even though they are separate sports run by different international organizations. For softball to get back in, the softball federation and the baseball federation need to work together to increase the international appeal of the two sports.

What convenience eagle reported. Baseball and softball are not appropriate as worldwide activities. maximum international places in basic terms do no longer play them. and there's a stream interior the IOC to rationalize the Olympics that have been including events for the previous 70 spectacular years and the expenses of web hosting are spiraling uncontrolled. for my area i think of they'd locate the money for to offload 0.5 the swimming and track courses as there are maximum of comparable events, yet that does no longer help tension down expenses it is what that's approximately on the tip of the day.

the Olympics committee...claimed that the U.S.A. team dominated the sport ... and that they really didn't have much challenge...
