It is safe, as long as her doctor has not said otherwise. Try different positions that don't put pressure on the abdomen.

Yes, it is safe to have sex while the woman is pregnant.
However, the best position to have sex while she is pregnant is when the woman is on all fours and you are behind her.
- This relieves pressure on the stomach. -However the swaying and motion that is involved during this may make her a bit uneasy. So go at a slow pace and avoid heavy swaying.

The pain she is feeling is going to be normal - just go easy and things should be fine.

If the doc. says its ago, then its ok. Try switching positions. I just found doggie style can be a bit much for me, so we switched to me laying on my side and him still behind, in a spoon position..felt much better. It may change through out the pregnancy. So long as the doc says ok and she's not in any pain you guys are good to go. Just wait till the belly gets in the way...lol. Its actually quite comical sometimes.

It's not "wrong" or "right" to have sex when you're on your period, and as far as I know, it's safe. In fact, orgasms are supposed to help with a woman's cramps during her menstrual cycles. So, sex could be helpful for her. It's not bad, it's just... disgusting. But if she's cool with it, and you're both desperate for some lovin' -- have at it!

Pregnancy:
Sex During Pregnancy

Yes. There is no reason to change or alter your sexual activity during pregnancy unless your health care provider advises otherwise. Intercourse or orgasm during pregnancy will not harm your baby, unless you have a medical problem. Remember that your baby is well protected in your uterus by the amniotic fluid that surrounds him or her.

Your health care provider may recommend not having intercourse early in pregnancy if you have a history of miscarriages. Intercourse may also be restricted if you have certain complications of pregnancy, such as premature labor or bleeding. You may need to ask your health care provider to clarify if this means no penetration, no orgasms or no sexual arousal, as different complications may require different restrictions.

Most of the time it is completely safe to have sex during pregnancy and it is normal for her to have some cramping afterward.
