how do i take off the predictive text box on my computer from when i previously typed something in the box...? every time i go to type something similar the little box at the bottom shows up as if i wanted to use that old text again.

If it's in your browser, you can do this by clearing your history. In Internet Explorer 6, this is in Internet Options. However, this doesn't work on everything; for example, I think there are still some forms that will suggest what they think you want to type.
By the way, it's called 'auto complete' which is why in Internet Explorer 7, there's a specific option called 'auto complete' which allows you to change a number of things associated with this functionality. Much better.
