If i had a child first then when i got the dog it would be less jealous, but im thinkin what happens if i dont end up getting pregnant for years. i really want both! HELP!

Really would depend on the temprament of the dog. I already had a dog and have had 2 children since. She was amazing with my babies, and acted as protector to them. If you do get a dog first remember that it will be inquisitive when you bring a new baby home. Dont push it away, let it sniff the baby (with you monitoring the reaction very closely and you being with them both). If you dont let the dog within 20 foot of the baby then of course it will be jealous. Having said that, don't ever leave the baby and dog in the same room together alone. After all, dogs are not humans and you have to do all you can to avoid problems. Good luck, I now have 2 dogs and 2 children and we do live in harmony together (sometimes, noise aside !!!!!)

i don't know. I would have the child first I guess then I would wait a long time before I got a dog. I had a little boy then got a Basset Hound puppy when my son was three. My son did everything he could to that poor puppy (not maliciously) until finally we had to give him to my sister. So if you have the child first wait until the child is old enough to care for a dog before you get one.

i think first u should take child....after 3 year later get a dog. this time ur child is old enough and can understand a lot. Can also play with the dog..

I know of alot of cases of friends who have had the dog 1st, then being forced to getting the dog put down after attack on a child!!!
We have a beautiful retriever brilliant temperament soft as a brush, but when my mr's and i hug, she gets real jealous!!

a dog will be less jealous if you get it second, if you get the dog first it might attack the baby this happened to someone I knew. Also would you be willing to give up your beloved pet if your child happened to be allergic to it?

if the dog comes before the baby the dog will thinks its a higher rank then the baby.

depends on the breed of dog. want a chihuahua? then wait until after you have a kid. those get jealous.
