Yes, people do blow things way out of context. I live in an area, where, most of the people, celebrate the "fall festival" instead of Halloween, because Halloween is suppose to be evil. Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain.
The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, celebrated their new year on November 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. For a people entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter.
Halloween isn't evil! Any day could become evil, if the person makes it that way.

Yes some people do go over board with things like halloween and also some people really go crazy around christmas.; But no Halloween is not a an evil day. But to some christian it is because it is a day when people dress up in all kind of costume that represent devils, witches etc. that is pagan to many people. To me it is just another day but it is cute to see little children dress in costumes. I know when my mother was in a hospital time it was on halloween and these 2 girls came up dress in cute little costume giving people in the intensive care waiting room candy and treats and I thought that was cute. But this is also was they called a witch;s sabbath too but hey to each their own. right. have a good day.
below is a web site that give information on the mean of halloween.

Yes some people need to chill out. If you dont like it dont celebrate it. What if I was bashing christmas or hanakka? I would not be able to get away with it as easy as people who claim Halloween is EVIL. It is a holiday with no pressure. There is no pressure to make a big fuss. You can if you want or you dont have too. thats why I like it so much. No one has an "expectation" of what it should be. Like Christmas, everyone has an expectation of what a Christmas dinner "should" be like. And how every one "should" be so happy and get along well. It is too much pressure!. Halloween on the other hand can be scary, grusome, or happy smiley pumkins. you can go to a Halooween Party, go trick-or-treating, go to a haunted house, have a carnival... there is no "proper" way to celebrate it thats what makes it so fun!

why was it changed from The beginning of the fall harvest to Halloween? I heard that it was a satanic day where those who worshipped evil or the devil or whatever used to sacrifice animals and even people in the older days. Is that true? I would not want to celebrate an evil past tradition.

Well some people do, but Halloween can be evil, like night time is the devils play ground, like in the day time you most likely won't see a ghost but in the night lots of creepy stuff happens. Like the movie Sleepy hollow, the headless rider would not come out in the day time would he? :)

yes, they are blowing it WAY out of context. It is not an evil day. It is a celebration of the dead who have gone before us to show them respect. It started in ancient cultures in celtic beliefs.

It amazes me that ppl can be so blind and ignorant that they information is at there hand and yet they still chose not to believe what they can see. go figure.

It is VERY evil. You probably don't even know what Halloween IS! It is a SATANIC, DRUIDIC, and WICCAN holiday. It is SICK. The Satanic people sexually abuse and sacrifice innocent children on that day. Wiccans try to communicate with the dead through demonic forces. You should really do your research and watch this video-

Halloween, Child’s Play or The Serpent in the Garden?
October 14th, 2006 by jet44
This was my child’s English assignment. The students were asked to write a story on the subject of getting rid of a Holiday or adding one and this is what she wrote. I guess when the teacher read this one (no names were given) the class was dumbfounded and speechless.

English 11 Holidays

To Whom It May Concern:

One of the main holidays in our country is Halloween. I feel that this particular holiday produces a more negative affect than holidays should be allowed. On Halloween nights many kids, young and old, walk up and down streets to collects candy and other goodies from the neighbors. These actions may seem completely harmless when thought of briefly but when the true history of this holiday is investigated further horrible truths emerge. For example the roots of Halloween date back to medieval times. Back then October 31 was considered a day when dead spirits were believed to return to their homes and when evil practices, such as witchcraft, were most potent. My friends from South Africa lived in an area, where on Halloween nights, the cults would gather at graveyards to sacrifice cats and newborn babies to evil spirits. Today many people don’t understand the gruesome nature of this holiday and eagerly dismiss and negative facts against its origin. Today the choice of costumes for Halloween is also a problem for many people. If you’ve ever visited a general store in late September you’ve probably seen the variety of costumes displayed: skulls painted with blood, witch hats and masks, knives, axes etc. On a more serious note store decorations for Halloween usually advertise death and murder. For example Menards in Nebraska shows a skeleton hanging from the rafters by a handmade noose. Who would want their three year old child to be exposed to that degree of terror at such a young age? Decorations like these not only scare children but also teach them that these actions are O.K. and exciting.
The problem with Halloween not only lies with its history and advertisement, but also with the safety of communities. One of the activities that troublemaking teenagers like to do on Halloween is pranking. Although this activity is slightly tolerable a very fine line is often crossed. Damage to public and personal property is a major prank that many pranksters try to accomplish on Halloween night. Do you want your children to be out amongst these potential criminals? Worse yet, a part of this crime? Safety is also an issue when addressing Halloween. Children are commonly left alone on October 31st to gather all the candy they can with their friends. Although there is safety in numbers, abductions do occur and are possible at any moment. Allowing this holiday to remain on our calendars will surely endanger our homes and families to a point we have never reached before. The simple concepts behind Halloween, such as candy gathering and consuming as much as possible is hard on the human body system. High calorie candy is one reason why so many kids today are overweight and proud owners of cavities that require around $100 to fix. Careful consumption of these treats is a very important skill that Halloween clearly destroys.
I understand that Halloween has been a trademark of our history and economy for many years, but the strong negativity of this holiday is too much to agree with! An alternative holiday such as a Harvest Celebration could involve dressing up in less terrorizing costumes and having a meal with family and friends. Kids could play games and win small pieces of candy or toys for prizes. All I ask is that you understand the satanic nature of this popular holiday and consider some other possible alternatives that could take the place of this highly controversial holiday.

I totally think people have blown it way out of context. It is nothing more than a day or night rather that kids can dress up and have fun.

No, it really depends on who is celebrating and why, some celebrate because it's a holiday and it's fun to dress up, carve pumpkins and give out candy.. some celebrate the dead, and things that are evil... It is what it is to whoever celebrates it!
