hi, right now im driving a '93 jeep wranger with an AX-15 manual transmission. Today while driving, i go to push in the clutch and change gears and the clutch only goes in about half way. When i continue pressing in it gives in and allows me to shift gears. This problem continued to persit throughout the day. However i discovered that if i stayed on the gas a little longer then normal and let it continue to accelerate while pushing in the clutch the sticking did not happen. So my question is: whats wrong with my clutch and does it need replacement or repair?

If the clutch pedal feels harder than it used to, you probably have a bad pressure plate or a linkage problem.

I don't recall if the Jeep has a hydraulic or a cable clutch: if it has a cabl;e the cable may be about to break, and this can be the problem.

If you mean the clutch is soft for part of the pedal travel and only feels hard at the very bottom of the throw, and if you have a hydraulic clutch linkage, then you may have a clutch slaver cylinder or master cylinder problem. Check the clutch fluid.

It sounds like your Clutch Pressure plate is Bad.

it should be a hydraulic clutch and engine speed shouldnt matter but i have seen mechanical clutches have this problem when a motor or trans mount is bad. im thinking if its hydraulic you have a clutch slave cylinder going bad. this requires removal of the trans to replace it. but check the fluid first.
