I pay closer attention to local races than national. I think there's a difference between holding a state or local office than a federal office. Because of that, sometimes I am more open to a Democratic candidate despite voting Republican for federal offices. I liked Gov. Zell Miller of Georgia, for example, despite him being a Dem and me being a registered Repub.

I always study the candidates in the elections-from all levels. I especially pay attention the judges. I hear all the time about how police officers aren't doing there jobs, well, the way I see it, if they arrest someone every minute-and the judges let them go, whose fault is it?????
Also, I feel if I vote-then I have the right to complain about issues, if I don't-then I have no right to fuss.
I generally vote for my party. That way, there is not much conflict when it comes to various issues. If I voted for a Dem and Rep then how could I ever expect an issue to be solved?

I know a fair amount about many of my local races, at least the higher level ones. Judges and city council are areas that I should do more research though.

For Congressional races there ARE no local races. Either we vote to stop enabling Dictator Dumbya, or we choose the abyss.
And I have yet to find a Repuke who would work for the "rest of us" like a Democrat in any race I ever voted in.

Too bad but party lines would be more accurate, the media only tells you what they want you to know about the person.
