I have a 2000 Ford Explorer. It has 70,000 miles and is in good shape. No Rust. I just had new rotars and pads put on it less than 10,000 miles ago. When I come to a stop or I am slowing down. My car in the front makes a horrible screeching noise and it sounds horrendous. Ive tried spraying water underneath it. Doesnt help. I do not think its the breaks, I think it might be the frame. When I am driving over 30 it doesnt make the noise but when Im slowing down and about to stop its horrendous. If you need to contact me and ask for more info, aim me at shsathlete103, its a exremely loud noise and it just continue's until the car is in a resting position or back up at a reasonable rate of speed. If anyone can suggest what this is and how much it will cost to fix it, that would be tremendous. Thanks all!!!

Even though you just had the brakes done it sounds like brake noise to me. If the rotors are not properly surfaced they can make a horrible squealing noise even if they have plenty oof lining still left on the pads.

Does the car pull to one side or the other? does the noise stop when you release the brake pedal?

It is very possible that the brakes wore out in less then 10,000 miles especially if one of the Calipers is dragging causing the piston not to realese smoothly. the other possibility is that the Brake Pad seperated from it's backing plate and therefore is giving you a metal on Metal screeching sound. You need to get the Brakes checked ASAP. Lots of places will check them for free.

Have the brakes inspected.

I'm going to take this opportunity to be a complete smart alec and say, "Well, the first thing the mecanic is likely to ask is whether or not you sprayed water under your car, as we all know this is the first line of defense against mechanical failure. But, since you obviously knew that, we can cut straight to the figuring out what's wrong." Thank you, Thank you, I'm here until Thursday. Please try the Prime Rib. Thank you again....

Sounds like you lost a pad. That could be the caliper pistons coming down on the rotors.
