Sudafed is on the list of AAP approved meds for nursing mothers.
Do be aware that for some mothers, taking decongestants can cause supply problems.
If you have someone look any meds up, make sure they check the book "Medications & Mother's Milk" by Thomas Hale. This is *THE* resource for nursing moms. Many pharmacists and docs would just look in the PDR and it's not the best place to find this info. A LLL Leader or IBCLC will have M&MM.

You should probably check with your doctor but I am breastfeeding and I take Sudafed when I need to. My OB said it was fine.

The safest thing for you to do is not take anything until you contact your doctor. Things may be okay for you to take, but unless you are talking to a true doctor, don't take anything and nurse until you talk to your doctor. You don't know what could hurt the baby. That's what my mom did, and one of the things she was going to take, would've hurt the baby if she did take it.

Hi Moon Beam,
You should call the doctor or the out of hours doctor service.
Better safe than sorry!

Call your doctor's office and ask the nurse. You can also call any phamarcy and ask the pharmacist on duty. They have that knowledge also.
