The best art imitates life in a compelling way. If it imitates a dream, it must be a dream of life. Otherwise, there is no place where we can connect. Our plugs don't fit.

OK, art imitates real life which in turns imitates a dream?

Life imitating art is rather expected. An architect designs a building from his imagination, then in real life we build it. Life imitates art, cool, I get that.

An architect has a dream and designs a building based on the dream, is this not life imitating art again, but inspired by a dream? Seems to me that is the case.

This is all a matter of subjective reasoning and I would not expect there to be a smooth circle ot connections to plug into this particular thought problem.

altered states, dream drawings, symbolism, using objects to convey a meaning that sometimes can be hidden to the untrained eye, the artist genre is not unique, it has all been done before, but not by you, there are many art forms that purport to imitate life, but how can you define ones life in a drawing or painting, i give you two other words that are best suited to the meaning of art, observation and perception. regards LF
