So they are really smooth. Any preperations before the actual shaving?

Invest in a good razor

The disposable ones, although inexpensive will not do as good of a job as a reusable, and yes, a little bit more expensive razor. I use "Venus" by Gillette and I highly recommend it.

Change your blades frequently

A dull razor increases the chances of ingrown hair, and will give you those annoying nicks and a razor rash.

Do not shave right after getting out of bed in the morning

Your skin is more puffy first thing in the morning, so your hair stubble is not as visible. I recommend waiting 20-30 minutes before grabbing a razor.

Scrub or loofah before shaving

Grab a soft skin brush or a loofah, and give your legs a nice massage...Start at the ankles and work your way up to the thighs, in slow circular motion.

This will get rid of the dead skin which can clog up your blade. Plus it will give you smooth and soft skin.

Wet your hair first

Before grabbing that razor wet your skin for 2-5 minutes. When your skin is well hydrated, your hair will stand up, allowing for a closer shave.

Don't shave after a long bath

If you're planning to shave in the bath, do it in the first 5 minutes. It takes skin just under 10 minutes to shrivel in warm water, which makes it harder to get at the hair and get a close shave.

Don't use soap

Shaving cream will moisturize your skin and the razor will glide on better. Another option is to use a hair conditioner. It will leave your skin smooth and silky and it does just as good of a job as a shaving cream. I buy an inexpensive kind and I love the results.

Let your shaving cream sit on the skin

Allow your shaving cream (or conditioner) to sit on your skin for a couple of minutes. That will moisturize the skin and the hair will stand up for a closer shave.

I was told don't shave them in the shower, softens the hair and makes it harder to get a close shave. I shave my legs in the evening, wet with cold water, apply a shave gel and shave carefully and slowly. Make sure the razor is good. I use mine 5 times, no more than that, sometimes less. My legs always come out alot better that way.

Make sure you steam your legs.....run the hot water for 5 minutes to soften the hairs before starting to shave. Use a new blade....a love the Schick Quattro. Four blades....very smooth. And use a good shaving gel..a think and rich formula works best. Clean your razor often while shaving. And remember to use a ton of body butter on your legs afterwards.

Do it while in the shower. After you have washed-warm water helps make it easier. Use a shaving cream or body wash. Try putting some Avon SSS body oil into your body wash-not only will it help the razor glide over skin, but it will moisturize your legs and whole body!! It doesn't take too much oil-too much won't let the soap lather very well.

use a woman's shaving cream. It seems to keep the razor blade extra sharp which gives the closest shave. The cream also prevent nicks and immediately replaces the moisture stripped by shaving

Use a hair conditioner. Hair conditioners are made to soften the hair on your head and to moisturize the scalp also. When you use it on your legs, you get the same result, and the the razor glides more easily on the skin, reducing the chance of getting razor burn. Using hot water isn't the best idea, because it strips the skin of it's natural oils. Your best bet is warm water. Good luck!

Try Kiehl's shaving cream for women, followed by their after shave lotion for the legs. It is the best I've ever used & fairly good priced!!! I always exfoliate my legs before shaving, it loosens any lodged hairs & gives smoother results!

this sounds really gross but let the hair grow out for one to 2 days. then shave it with soap or shaving cream they will be extra smooth as long as you do not use a dull razor.
