Hi, I have been living in Egypt since 1991 and I do not intend on going back. Life here is wonderful, the people are nice and warm, i have tons of friends americans, british & egyptians. My social life actually improved drastically here.

I honestly think it is has to do with the way you approach your life. If you lock your self out thinking you are only here on a temporary basis, then you are not going to have a life. There is so much to do here. I go camping at least once a month, I go out every single night to pubs and restaurants. I live in Maadi and it is full of people from different countries and they are all eager to make new friends.

I go to Sharm every other month to dive and have a blast in the night clubs, I go to Gouna and Hurghada on a regular basis. Nile cruise is my favourite though, it is the most amazing cruise anyone can take. You get to see natural beauty, see all the ancient monuments and make new friends.

Egypt has so much to offer, I can't believe you are bored. Listen, be sociable, go out there and socialize and make new friends. I love it here and I do not think I would ever want to leave.

My husband used to work for an Egyptian oil company long time ago. He had to stay in Egypt for 3-5 months each time he travel there. Like you said the life is very boring - there were only a handful of TV channels and he didn't understand the language. When he traveled to oil field, they live in the field dorm, wear the same uniform & eat the same food - pretty much like living in a prison (because the only mean of transportation getting out of the oil field is by small airplane).
