i would probably feel both - it would depend on how it is said, if they said it like they really meant it then i would take it as a compliment, if they sounded like they were a little deranged then i would be scared (although even then its still nice to hear!!) someone once asked me if i was married and when i said no but im in a relationship he said "oh never mind, he is a very lucky man" i felt great but also wondered if he was having a joke!

A guy walked up to me at a festivel and said I was the best looking girl there and walked off but he was probably saying that to lots of girls till he got the reaction he wanted. I know that most of the girls there were gorgeous so it was obviously bulls**t!
Maybe in your case it was true and he thought if he told you it would make your day and maybe he has a girlfriend or a wife at home so he wasn't being a letch just nice.

I would question their sanity. I would think they were either extremely daring or extremely shy. I would immediately check myself out in a mirror.
If I was a beautiful woman, as you may be, I would take it as a compliment.
