they freak out because they thought they new you and its like a shock to them and then they think ok all those times in gym were you checking them out while naked or thinking about doing the dirty with them. At least that is what my bestfriends told me when i told them. But then again they said they kinda always new. I never thought of my friends that way though and i told them that because they were more like my sisters. Guy friends usually say can i watch. My husband has the best of both worlds. If i could married to both a man and woman at the same time it would be great.

People who are heterosexual or homosexual have major misconceptions about bisexuality which stem through lack of understanding and in some cases - fear.

Heterosexual people may avoid having bisexual friends because they fear that the bisexual will make a move on them and try to "convert" them into being bisexual.

Homosexual people sometimes get frightened of bisexuals thinking that they are either "still in the closet", "trying to hang on to heterosexual privileges" or they percieve them as traitors (thinking that a bisexual sleeps with the enemy, or will switch sides when the going gets tough).

As a whole, humans are generally frightened of things which cannot be categorised. Heterosexuality and homosexuality is generally easy to categorise, but bisexuality is difficult as it varies infinitely throughout the spectrum.

Are you trying to say you told one of your friends you were bi, then they freaked out? Well, get new and improved, non-brainwashed friends. Happy Halloweeeeeeeeen!

I have the same problem and it kind of sucks...

If I tell a straight guy they automatically think "Yes!!! Threesome!!!"

If I tell a straight girl they think that I'm going to hit on them.

I've even had gay/lesbian people I knew that no longer wanted to talk to me because I wasn't 100% queer to them anymore...

Even though being bi gives you more opportunities to find yourself a date on Saturday night, unfortunantly, in my expirience, you have less people to hang out with during the week.

Because they are suprised. Were you maybe trying to freak them out? Just a little?

If you really care you could go about it in a sensitive and caring way and give them time to adjust. Look up some info on P-Flag.

I had this happen to me.........i lost TWO of my "friends" when i came out...and you know, it hurt, but as a bit of time went by, i realized that they weren't 'true friend'......................if they were 'true', they wouldn't freak out, or "run" from you. Closed-minded.... Homophobes.... whatever you want to call them. One person had the 'right' idea................ make NEW friends !!! It'll happen, in time, trust me. Try not to 'mourn the loss' of the friends that freaked out on you, because in all reality, they weren't "really" your "best friend"(s). Good Luck.

Bisexuals are the current outcasts in most all worlds. Gays feel that bisexuals just can't commit. Straights believe bisexuals are just gays who can't admit.

Hang in there. There are true believers out there that know there are true bisexuals in the world.
