The Diocese of Providence mailed surveys to candidates for U.S. Congress and the state General Assembly.

All questions pertained to issues important to Catholics voting in the Nov. 7 General Election.

The results of these surveys are shown here: http://www.dioceseofprovidence.com/our_diocese/news_and_media/library/?id=1698

With love in Christ.

Interesting question. The Catholic Church, like any other organization or individual, sometimes has to choose what they see as the lesser of two evils. Based on information in Wikipedia, I have to think the Catholic Church would be slightly less opposed to Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse than Republican Lincoln Chaffee. The Catholic Church's policy is to never mention a politician by name, and it seldom endorses or condemns a political issue unless serious matters of faith and morals are involved.

The National Rifle Association rates the candidates by a letter grade. Chaffee gets an "F". Amazingly, Whitehouse gets a "?", but I think it should be a "D" or probably an "F". If the Catholic Church gave letter grades, I think they would be about the same. Interestingly, while the NRA and the Catholic Church (and many other faiths) would never consider themselves to be anything alike, they do have a lot of similar values, and end up favoring very similar issues and candidates.

The movements of the Church are a hundred% appropriate. in my opinion all i will say is "it extremely is approximately time". Has absolutely everyone observed how bias the media is in the direction of this issue? We merely had a expert-life President serve 2 words in workplace. despite the fact that, Bishop Tobin is lots from heroic in this count. in case you examine added, he purely took this public action after Kennedy released a tirade against the Church. It became greater retaliatory than corrective. How approximately Ms. Pelosi and different Catholic lawmakers are they doing communion of their church buildings. i be attentive to a close-by religious Catholic who can't do communion using fact he married a divorced Protestant who refuses undergo nullification strategies and that i think of of ways the useful have greater leverage. Christ gave the Church the authority and blessing to enforce his rules, yet maximum heavily Christ is approximately justice. This justice might desire to be the two enforced from the least of our brethren to the main useful. If no longer we are nonetheless advertising indulgences. God be with you.
