I'm always real nervous about having sex with my husband in the two weeks after I ovulate before I am supposed to get my period. I always hear stories about how women have sex and it makes them start their periods. It's not that I'm immature and not ready to have a baby, because I am. I'm 22 years old, married and have been TTC for about 5 months. Is any of this really true or am I becaoming obsessive. I'm trying to have a life other than TTC, and trying not to stress, but It's really hard.... Too early to test?? I'm approx 7-9 DPO.. thanks

Yes, way too early to test. If you are pregnant, your body hasn't produced enough of the hcg hormone yet to be detected on an hpt. I understand your concerns about having sex after ovulation, but normal sex will not cause you to miscarry. Your cervix closes up when you become pregnant to help protect the baby. Sex can bring on a period, but it's just that - a "period".

Are you sure of your ovulation time? The reason I ask is because many women use ovulation calculators on web-sites. Don't rely on them because every woman is different. If this is the case, I suggest charting your daily bbt (basal body temperature). Check out fertilityfriend.com. It's a wonderful web-site that will show you how to accurately take your daily bbt and you can chart your temps for free on their site. These charts will be useful to take to your OBGYN if you find you are not ovulating. There is also valuable information about various signs of ovulation as well as the best time for conception.

Best of luck to you!

I can relate. I was also obsessing when TTC for a while. I finally stopped thinking about it (about six months later) and became pregnant. Having sex after ovulation will not affect your chances of pregnancy. Just relax and enjoy the time with your hubby.

Having sex after ovulation will not harm your chances of getting pregnant. And since you're done "trying" for the month, it's about your only chance to relax, stop obsessing and just make love to your husband for fun.
